DO YOU REMEMBER?
Hmm. I'm not old enough to remember when these things came out, but I've come across several of these items anyway.
For those of us who actually remember records, here’s a story that will make you feel really old…
A few years ago, our friend’s son-in-law, who was about 20 years old then, was over at our house. He said he had a song stuck in his head, but didn’t know the name of it, or the group that sang it. After listening to him, I told him I knew the song. It was “Hard To Say I’m Sorry,” by Chicago, a song that came out when I was in high school.
He asked if I had a copy of it, and I pulled out a real vinyl album. After he saw it, he asked if it was a 33 or a 45, then before I could answer, he said, “It must be a 45, it’s bigger than the other kind of record.” I felt really old at that point.
For those of you too young to remember, the numbers 33 and 45 refer to the rpm, revolutions per minute, that the record played. The albums, which are bigger than the singles, were the 33 rpm records.
..and our phone exchange was Randolph7.
